TTS, DBP sign MoU to continue book publication collaboration

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Parks, better known as Taman-Taman Sabah (TTS), and the Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) today signed a memorandum of understanding to continue collaborative efforts in the publication of books on the parks.
Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said the collaboration established also enabled TTS to seek guidance from DBP in improving the quality of the book produced.
"I thank DBP for choosing to work with TTS, as it is highly sought-after by many agencies.
"Through this cooperation, TTS is able to produce books on the treasures of TTS which are of better quality, to be shared with people within the country or abroad," he told reporters after witnessing the MoU signing ceremony at the Sabah State Legislative Assembly here today.
The MoU was signed by TTS representative, TTS Board of Trustee chairman Datuk Seri Tengku Zainal Adlin Tengku Mahamood and DBP representative, DBP deputy director-general (policy) Datuk Abang Sallehuddin Abang Shokeran.
Further commenting, Masidi said following the collaboration between DBP and TTS since 2004, TTS had produced eight books, such as the ''Rafflesia of the World' that was written by TTS director Dr Jamili Nais.
"Through today's MoU, TTS and DBP will also produce an encyclopaedia on the biodiversity of the area, conservation efforts and uniqueness of the sections in TTS.
"The writing initiative will be continued by the Research and Education Division from time to time to ensure that goals of the TTS Strategic Plan 2025 will be achieved," he added. – Bernama
