RM90,000 for wiring upgrade in 14 tahfiz schools

    MALACCA: The Energy Commission has allocated RM90,000 to upgrade the wiring system in 14 tahfiz (religious) schools throughout the country this year as part of its corporate social responsibility.
    Its regional operations and enforcement director, Md Zakuan Ibrahim said so far, the wiring systems in 12 selected schools had been upgraded, including two in Selangor, Perak (1), Pahang (1), Penang (2), Malacca (1) and Sabah (5) while work was still being carried out in two more schools in Kelantan.
    He said the upgrading included power sources and fans, replacing bulbs, changing distribution boxes and adding security features.
    "This CSR project is a touchpoint programme which began last year. Before this, nine tahfiz schools were selected and this year it was extended to 14 schools throughout the country.
    "The allocation for upgrading of the wiring system in each school is subject to the damage or replacements needed, and the maximum amount is RM10,000," Md Zakuan told Bernama after the launch of the CSR programme at Madrasah An Nuriah Ad Diniah tahfiz school, here, today.
    He said the upgrading works were done with the cooperation of the skills training institutes with expertise in electrical wiring, as well as with contractors.
    He added that through the CSR programme, the public and students would get an understanding of the importance of a wiring system, equipped with safety protection, a residual current device. — Bernama
