UniMAP, Nazarbayev university to collaborate in academic, research

ASTANA: Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) is eyeing a collaboration with Nazarbayev University (NU) here, especially in academic and research.
The top brass of the two institutions of higher learning held talks on the collaboration in conjunction with UniMAP's Educational Tour programme, to the famous engineering university in Kazakhstan yesterday.
The Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail led the UniMAP delegation at the talks while NU was headed by its president, Shigeo Katsu.
Also accompanying Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra, who is UniMAP chancellor, were deputy vice-chancellor Prof Dr Mohd Fo'ad Sakdan and Dean of Students Affairs and Alumni Associate Professor Razli Ahmad.
The visit to NU, accompanied by Malaysian Ambassador to Kazakhstan, Syed Bakri Syed Abdul Rahman was the first event in conjunction with the two-day programme to Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan.

As the top leaders discussed the collaborative networking between the two institutions of higher learning, UniMAP students comprising the leaders of the Student Representative Council (MPP) 2016/2017 session also held talks on cooperation opportunities with NU students and university staff at a separate event.
Meanwhile, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra said UniMAP would continue to focus on international relations and cooperation networks with leading universities.
He said the visit would give UniMAP students and staff a chance to broaden their horizon and appreciate the culture of other institutions and create an effective communication network between students and teaching staff.
The visit was also aimed at introducing UniMAP as a thriving engineering university with over 13,000 students, including foreign students.
NU which was established seven years ago, has about 4,000 students. Located in the heart of the modern city of Astana, the university has recorded significant progress since its existence and encouraged UniMAP's collaboration. — Bernama
