LUMUT: The Swiss-Garden Challenge held on Nov 19 was a resounding success with 104 golfers from all over Malaysia including Japanese and Korean expatriates taking to the fairways of Damai Laut Golf & Country Club (DLGCC), with three women participants.
A return air ticket to Muscat courtesy of Oman Air and two BMW 118i M Sport were the catch of the day and had the golfers putting in their best in the Ronald Fream-designed 18-hole award winning golf course.
The tournament was played in stroke play format and the game progressed smoothly with fine weather which culminated in a sumptuous prize giving lunch at Green View overlooking the scenic golf course.
"Damai Laut Golf & Country Club under the astounding leadership of Kay Leong has progressively improved to become an active and remarkable golf course in Malaysia that is able to hold international standard tournaments," said the resort's general manager Patrick Tee.
"We have again achieved another full field today and the response to our tournaments have been so great that we actually have golfers on standby on tournament day to fill in any last minute cancellations.
"We strongly encourage golfers to book early for the Grand Final of the Damai Laut Golf Series on Dec 3 and the Swiss-Garden Cup 2017 on Dec 16-17.
"DLGCC was also the venue for the recently concluded PGM EurAsia Perak Championship under Asian Development Tour which was held from Nov 8-11 and this will create greater awareness for the golf course. We also encourage golfers to bring your families for a holiday as the resort's The Wet Side Mini Water Theme Park and Young Citizens of the World Kids Club will be opening soon."
Nasaruddin Abdul Kadir emerged as the gross champion with a superb score of 75, winning himself a return air ticket to Muscat courtesy of Oman Air, a Sharp television set 50" model, a 3D/2N stay in a Junior Suite at Swiss-Garden Beach Resort Damai Laut, a trophy as well as the Swiss-Garden Challenge trophy.
The nett title went to Mohd Arshad Ismail (12), who carded a nett score of 64 to win a Sharp television set 40" model, a 3D/2N stay in a Deluxe Garden View at Swiss-Garden Beach Resort Damai Laut and a trophy.
To add to the air of excitement, a lucky draw was held and umbrellas bearing the BMW logo and hotel stay vouchers were given to participants to take home.
The official partners of Swiss-Garden Challenge 2017 included Oman Air, Nippon Golf/Tech, Srixon and Crest Link.
The next tournament is the Grand Final of the Damai Laut Golf Series on Dec 3, and the Swiss-Garden Cup 2017 on Dec 16–17.
