Dec 22; Mention date for two PPIM activists charged with mischief, trespass

KAJANG: The magistrate's court here today set Dec 22 for mention of a case involving two Malaysian Muslim Consumers Association (PPIM) activists charged with committing mischief and criminal trespass at a vehicle store last July.
The accused are PPIM Special Action Unit director Muhamad Yusof Azmi, and operations head Ali Salimin, both of whom had pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Magistrate Nor Afidah Idris fixed the date after the prosecution, conducted by deputy public prosecutor Megat Mahathir Megat Tharih Afendi, requested for a new date for submission of documents and that there were documents on the case which were still incomplete.
Lawyer Mohd Fadhly Yaacob, representing the two PPIM activists, did not object to it.
Last Oct 24, Muhamad Yusof, also known as Yusof Azmi, 27, and Ali, also known as Abang Ali, pleaded not guilty to a charge of having jointly conspired to commit mischief by breaking the padlock to a vehicle store belonging to AGR Auto Trade Sdn Bhd at Lot 1926A Sungai Sikamat, Jalan Cheras Batu 13 here, at 3.30pm last July 10.
The charge, under Section 427 of the Penal Code and read together with section 109 of the same law, provides for an imprisonment of up to five years, or with fine, or both, if found guilty.
They also pleaded not guilty to a charge made under Section 447 of the Penal Code with criminal trespassing into the same place between 3.30pm and 7.30pm on the same day.
The two men face imprisonment of up to three months, or fine of up to RM3,000, or both, if found guilty of committing the offence. — Bernama
