NIBONG TEBAL: Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has called on dealers and wholesalers in the Design Village outlet mall to provide quality products and bargains despite the premise being promoted as a marked down retailer.
Lim said that the sales at Design Village had reached 78% last month while the outlet mall had set a target to reach 85% by April of next year.
The mall was the first of many new development projects in Batu Kawan, which was designed to be the catalyst for growth of the state's new satellite township.

Batu Kawan was also earmarked as a primary mover of the mainland's economy.
The mall was modelled after the Premier Outlet concept of branded merchandise which went unsold in previous months.
The items were then remarketed at discounted or special prices at the mall.
"The mall can do with more outlets and vendors to boost the sales in order to achieve the target (of 85%)," Lim said when marking the first anniversary of the mall at Bandar Cassia here yesterday evening.
Lim noted that the outlet mall has attracted many tourists especially from Thailand, but there was always room for improvement.
He also hoped the establishment of direct flights by Qatar Airlines from the Middle East to Penang, can bring more tourists to the state.
In conjunction with the first anniversary celebration, the mall has organised a "Jom, Jiak!" Food Festival until Sunday.
The idea behing Jom Jiak was to promote international cuisines at the mall, and it showcases an array of cooking styles from cafes to restaurants and hawkers to food trucks.
Visitors can savour scrumptious food from around the globe at one place, and it solidifies Penang's reputation as a regional food haven.
