Resident Associations should play an active role in security: Nur Jazlan

JOHOR BARU: Deputy Home minister Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed has urged that all resident associations should play an active role in the security of their respective housing estates.
He said this at a ceremony at the Umno Pulai building here on Saturday where he awarded mock cheques to representatives from resident associations.
He noted that following the process of urbanization, we hardly know our neighbors.
According to Nur Jazlan, especially in the gilded and gated housing estates, where the police do not have full access, that there are criminals who rent these houses and commit various crimes, such as theft, human trafficking, internet scams and much more.
He wants the resident associations' members to play an active role in patrolling, and to give information to the police and immigration authorities at early stage, before things could go out of control.
Nur Jazlan, who is also the chairman of the Malaysian Drug Prevention Association (Pemadam), said that Pemadam will focus on private higher-learning institutions, to promote the anti-drug campaign.
He added that students from private higher-learning institution have more money, and are therefore prone to taking synergy drugs for various reasons.
