MOH holds workshop with UK university to engender entrepreneurship

KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Higher Education recently held a two-day workshop with representatives from Coventry University, United Kingdom.
The workshop, held at Universiti Malaya was to share input into the need to include Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Education in the higher education curriculum.
Topics brought up for discussion included developing students' curriculum with enterprise and entrepreneurial skills and developing tutors and lecturers with enterprising and entrepreneurial mindsets in line with the growth vision of Malaysia.
The British Council said in a statement that the objective was to encourage progressive approaches to education and produce graduates who have more critical thinking skills and multi-disciplinary specialties in problem-solving.
A Memorandum of Understanding was also signed between University of Malaya and Coventry University to reflect the extension of networks and commitment between both institutions towards enterprise and entrepreneurial education.
As part of Coventry University’s commitment to helping develop the enterprise and entrepreneurship educational ecosystem in Malaysia, Coventry University also launched the South East Asia Institute for Transformational Entrepreneurship (SEAITE) at Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC).
The launch of SEAITE aims to spearhead focus on enterprise and entrepreneurial education and continuously build capacity and capability through research-led programmes. Presently, SEAITE members include organizations from UK, Malaysia, Australia, Indonesia and Vietnam.
