KUALA LUMPUR: Police stations nationwide will be upgraded nationwide, in terms of technology and service, in tandem with the aspiration to achieve a modern policing level, said Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Noor Rashid Ibrahim (pix).
He said two pioneer projects were being carried out, at the Taman Tun Dr Ismail and Pantai police stations, both in the federal capital, for the purpose.
"This pioneer project is made to identify problems, as well as get feedback from the public, after the stations have been upgraded with the necessary technology.
"At these two stations, the public need not have to go to the stations to lodge reports, but only using the Internet," he told Bernama here today.
Last July 24, Bukit Aman Management director Datuk Seri Zulkifli Abdullah was reported to have said that the two stations had been equipped with full modern policing components and there had been positive response from the public.

Noor Rashid said the the concept of modern policing would also emphasise collaboration with the public to address crime.
"The police are more in contact with non-governmental organisations and the community through awareness programmes and on crime prevention aspects," he said.
On cross-border crime, he said , the police would would share information with their foreign counterparts to address all form of international crime.
"Cross-border crimes such as the Macau Scam, are becoming more complex and require collaboration between two countries," he said. — Bernama
