Haul up guardians of public purse

"MINISTRY urged to take stern action on contractors" (News, Nov 28) refers. It is so sad to read that an essential service like the KTM link to Skypark remains unstarted after so many years. That too after the contractor has been paid RM142 million.
While the auditor-general rightly recommends action against the contractor, surely more severe action is demanded against the civil servant(s) who let this happen.
The contractor is not the guardian of the public purse and welfare, the civil servant is.
Unless there is accountability by the civil servant(s), this sort of waste will continue.
After all, if no one asks, no contractor will refund, will he?
