Farmer fined for flashing private part to student

KUALA LUMPUR: A farmer was fined RM2,500 , in default three months jail, by the Magistrate's Court here today for flashing his private part to a female student last week.
Magistrate Maizatul Munirah Abd Rahman meted out the fine on V. Devadasan, 48, who pleaded guilty to the charge.
He was charged with making the gesture which was intended to insult the modesty of the student, aged 18, at Taman Maluri here at 11pm last Nov 21.
The charge, under Section 509 of the Penal Code, provides an imprisonment for up to five years, or with fine, or both, upon conviction.
In mitigation, Devadasan said he wanted to urinate and since there was no toilet in the area, went to dark spot to do so, not knowing that the woman was there.
