Over 11,000 evacuated in flood-hit Kelantan as of 5pm Wednesday

KOTA BARU: More people have been evacuated in flood-hit Kelantan, with 11,341 at relief centres as of 5pm, up from 8,574 at 1pm.
All the evacuees are being accommodated at 101 relief centres in nine of the 10 districts, namely Kota Baru, Pasir Mas, Tumpat, Bachok, Tanah Merah, Pasir Puteh, Kuala Krai, Machang and Jeli.
The "infobanjir" application of the Social Welfare Department reported that Pasir Mas had the most number of evacuees, 7,035 from 2,847 families housed at 40 relief centres.
Kota Baru was next with 1,499 people from 376 families, accommodated at 13 centres.
A total of 19 relief centres have been opened in Tanah Merah to accommodate 835 people from 245 families and eight had been opened in Pasir Puteh to house 819 people from 244 families.
Bachok has 313 people from 75 families at two centres and Machang, 385 people from 115 families at nine centres.
In Kuala Krai, 282 people from 74 families are at six centres, in Jeli, 40 people from nine families are at one centre, and in Tumpat, 133 people from 39 families are at three centres.
According to the infobanjir.water.gov.my portal of the Drainage and Irrigation Department, the level of Sungai Golok in Rantau Panjang, Pasir Mas, had risen to 10.66m at 5pm from 10.61m at noon. The danger point is 9m.
The level of Sungai Golok at Kuala Jambu, Tumpat, was at 3.42m, above the danger point of 2.5m.
