Soldiers, cop among eight caught for cattle rustling in Jempol

JELEBU: Eight men, including four soldiers and a policeman, who were caught stealing cattle and goats in Kampung Ulu Lakai, Simpang Durian near here early yesterday, have been placed on three-day remand ending tomorrow.
Jelubu police chief DSP Kamarul Rizal Jenal told reporters here today that the men, aged from 29 to 54 years, were caught by local residents who were suspicious of what they were doing there at about 3am.
The suspects had used shotguns and pistols to shoot two cows and four goats belonging to the villagers before loading the animals onto two Toyota Hilux pick-ups to be transported out.
Police were called in and found the firearms, live bullets, axes and knives in the vehicles. — Bernama
