Terengganu Umno sends 1,600 volunteers on post-flood mission

SETIU: Terengganu Umno has mobilised 1,600 volunteers on post-flood aid missions in the state assembly constituencies of Jabi and Jerteh, Besut.
Jabi state assemblyman Mohd Iskandar Jaafar said he had instructed 700 volunteers to carry out the mission in 48 flood-stricken villages in the constituency today.
"The cleaning work started as early as 8am. Manpower and food assistance are very much needed by the people in dealing with the disaster.
"This is what it is like in every flood where Umno has always been ready to help. We will always be there regardless of whether it is before, during or after (the floods)," he told Bernama at the post-flood aid mission in Kampung Apal here today.
Meanwhile, Jerteh state assemblyman Muhammad Pehimi Yusof said about 900 volunteers, comprising Jerteh Umno Youth and Puteri members, were presently at 45 villages in the constituency to conduct the mission.
"We have conducted drills at all 45 villages before this so that they (volunteers) would be ready to face the floods and know exactly what to do when dealing with such a disaster," he said. — Bernama
