PETALING JAYA: theSun thanks all generous Malaysians who came forward to contribute towards its flood relief fund.
The fund closed as of Nov 30 and successfully raised RM230,000 that went towards the relief operations carried out by Mercy Malaysia.
"We would like to thank all Malaysians who put their differences aside and contributed to this cause.
Together with Mercy Malaysia, we assure you that your contributions helped immensely in the relief efforts," theSun managing editor Freddie Ng said.
The fund, which was launched on Nov 6, will be channeled to Mercy Malaysia for immediate on-site health and medical relief operations.
Donations of RM50 were entitled to a tax-exemption receipt from Mercy Malaysia, upon request.
Mercy Malaysia worked with various government agencies, other non-governmental organisations and local communities on post-flood recovery initiatives.
They had a mobile clinic in Penang to treat flood victims with skin problems which could have stemmed from the dirty flood water, and aches and pain from moving heavy objects.
Aid in the form of hygiene kits, mattresses and blankets were also distributed to the families that needed them.
Once again, A BIG THANK YOU!
