Umno Veterans Club founder Tajudin Ali dies

IPOH: Founder and chairman of the first Umno Veterans Club, Tan Sri Tajudin Ali, 95, died at his residence in Hala Gopeng, Off Jalan Sultan Nazrin Shah here, yesterday morning.
According to his son, Amirudin, his father was admitted to KPJ Ipoh Specialist Hospital two weeks ago, after he had a lung infection.
"My father was then brought home two days ago and died at about 11.30am today," he said when contacted, here yesterday.
Amirudin said his father's remains were buried at Kampung Sungai Ara Muslim Cemetery, Pantai Besar in Batu Kurau, Taiping after Asar prayers.
It is learned that Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir and State Secretary Datuk Seri Abdul Puhat Mat Nayan visited Tajudin after Friday prayers on Friday.

Tajudin is survived by his wife, Puan Sri Putri Sharifah Megat Abd Rahman, 89, and nine children.
Tajudin who was former Kinta Utara state assemblyman (1955) and Larut member of parliament (1959) for three terms under former prime ministers Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra and Tun Abdul Razak Hussein.
In 1974 Tajudin was elected as Batu Kurau state assemblyman and was appointed as a senior state executive councillor.
Tajudin received his early education at King Edward School in Taiping before joining the Malay College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK) where he shared his passion for hockey with Tun Abdul Razak. — Bernama
