Lorry attendant gets 5 years for stealing items from house of Federal Court judge

KUALA LUMPUR: A lorry attendant was jailed five years by the Sessions Court here, for breaking into the house of Federal Court judge, Datuk Balia Yusof Wahi and stealing items, amounting to RM11,300.
Judge Shamsudin Abdullah jailed Ahmad Norfais Ishak, 22, from the date of his arrest, Oct 23, 2017.
Ahmad Norfais pleaded guilty to breaking into the house by entering through a toilet window in a room and stealing three "Nikon" brand cameras and three "Porshe" brand toy cars, in silver and red colour.
Among the other items included; a "HP" brand backpack, a "Nikon" camera bag, a "Nikon" bag containing lenses, a "Lowepro" camera bag, a "Go Pro brand Hero 4" (camera) , a box containing a microphone, a power bank with the words "Palace of Justice Putrajaya", a box with the words "Lens kit compatible with most smartphones" containing four lens, a box with the words "My passport" containing a hard disc, a 'HP' brand laptop with the words "Hak Kerajaan Malaysia" with battery, a bag containing a pair of shoes and a replica of "Porshe" brand toy car, which belongs to Balia.
Ahmad admitted committing the offence at a house at Jalan Kent 4, Wangsa Maju about 6.10am on Oct 22, 2017.
The charge is under section 457 of the Penal Code, which is punishable by five years jail and fine.
Lawyer Ernie Ahmad said the accused is married with three children and applied for a bound over under Section 294 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurakmal Farhan Aziz said the offence was serious and it is rampant.
He also said the accused was apprehended based on his fingerprints.
According to the facts of the case, the complainant, Balia went into his house about 10pm on Oct 22, 2017, and found the reading room in a mess while the window in the bathroom was opened.
Balia lodged a police report. Fingerprints discovered at the crime scene matched the accused.
