Jan 11 mention for Nhaveen murder case (Updated)

GEORGE TOWN: The magistrate court has set Jan 11 for mention in the case of four teenagers charged with murdering bully victim T. Nhaveen some six months ago.
Magistrate Mohamad Amin Shahul Hamid set the date after deputy public prosecutor Mohamad Syafiq Mohd Sazali told the court that the chemist department report was not completed yet.
The deceased's mother D. Shanti was present in court during yesterday's proceedings, while some family members of the accused began to sob upon seeing their loved ones in the dock.
On June 19, four teenagers including a form four student and a form five student were charged with murdering Nhaveen, 18.
J. Ragesuthen, 18, and S. Gokulan, 18, and two other adolescents were jointly charged with committing the offence near the Karpal Singh Penang Centre at Jalan Kaki Bukit, Gelugor near here, between 11pm and midnight on June 9 this year.
The charge under Section 302 of the Penal Code carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
Earlier at the Sessions Court, Judge Irwan Suainbon also set Jan 11 for mention for the four teenagers who are also facing another charge of causing grievous hurt to Nhaveen's friend T. Previin, 19 by using a dangerous weapon.
They were charged under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt.
They were alleged to have committed the offence near the Karpal Singh Learning Centre in Bukit Gelugor here between 11pm to 12.30am on July 9.
If convicted, they are liable to face a maximum 20-year prison term and a fine, or whipping.
DPP Farah Aimy Zainul Anwar prosecuted the case for the murder charge.
Counsel Datuk Ranjit Singh Dillon represented Ragesuthen and Gokulan, while the other two underage boys were represented by counsel Manveer Singh and S. Yago.
