Manager fined RM4.5k for keeping white-rumped shama without licence

KUALA LUMPUR: A pet shop manager was fined RM4,500 in default three months in jail, after pleading guilty in the sessions court here today to keeping four white-rumped shama birds without a licence, three years ago.
Khoo Soo Hah, 67, committed the offence at Perniagaan Sum Yee, No. 27 Jalan Ambong, Kepong Baru here, at 10.50am on Aug 31, 2014.
He paid the fine imposed by Judge Wan Mohd Norisham Wan Yaakob.
The charge under Section 61 of the Wildlife Conservation Act 2010 (Act 716) and punishable under the same Section, carries a maximum fine of RM100,000, or five years jail, or both on conviction.
Prosecuting officer Nazarudin Kamarudin appeared for the Wildlife and National Parks Department, while Khoo was unrepresented. — Bernama
