KUALA LUMPUR: Putri Umno has promised not to sulk if the movement's representatives are not nominated in the 14th General Election (GE14), according to its chief Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin.
In giving assurance to the party's president, Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak, she said Putri Umno would continue to work to ensure victory for Barisan Nasional (BN).
"Putri will not sulk. Putri will not scramble (to be nominated). Putri promises not to shut down its operations room," she said in her policy speech at the Putri Umno assembly at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) here today.
Mas Ermieyati said realising that the GE14 would be crucial and the mother of all general elections, Putri Umno had pledged loyalty to the party and its leaders.
"Putri Umno does not push for any nomination but only hoping that the process will take into account the women and young people," she said.
Having confidence that Najib has his own ways in selecting the candidates for GE14, Mas Ermieyati hoped that those chosen would have the "WLWC" traits, namely winnable, likeable, workable and capable.
"Do choose among the best to ensure a two-third majority for BN in the upcoming general election," she said.
In her powerful speech, Mas Ermieyati also reminded Putri Umno members to always be one step ahead and prepared to fend off attacks by the opposition.
"Now, we are already in the month of December which means we are getting closer to the 'battleground' of GE14 ... this will be one of the most significant battlegrounds in ensuring the survival of religion, race and nation.
"Our future is closely related to the GE14 results. Do think of this seriously," she said.
