KUALA LUMPUR: Institutions of higher education have been told to change with the times, in line with the advancement of technology.
Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh said this was vital to produce graduates who would not be jobless upon completion of their studies, as the world embraces the Industrial Revolution 4.0, which is expected to take over a huge number of jobs.
"It's true that technology will take over our jobs, but new ones will be made available. Like in cloud technology and building of robots, you still need scientists and technicians.
"You just have to look for these new jobs. What's important is the ministry moves hand-in-hand with this advancement in technology.
"And universities and polytechnics also have to change with the times, and change their curriculum to be in line with the current scenario," he said on the sidelines of the Umno general assembly, here, today.
