JELEBU: Jelebu Member of Parliament Datuk Zainudin Ismail was laid to rest at Kampung Petaseh Hilir cemetery here at about 11.50 am.
The recital of the funeral prayers was led by the imam of Kampung Petaseh's Seri Pernama Mosque, Zakaria Ahmad Wahidi.
There was a pall of gloom during the funeral ceremony which was attended by about 500 people.
Zainudin, 57, died at his home at Villa Puteri Condo, Kuala Lumpur at 7.30 pm yesterday due to complications from a brain tumor.
He had undergone surgery to remove the tumor on May 13 last year at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital.
Zainudin leaves behind a wife Datin Roziah Yaakob and three children.
In the 13th General Election, Zainudin won the parliamentary seat with a 7,101 vote-majority by defeating Raj MunniI Sabu from PAS. — Bernama
