Police still probing four illegal Bangladeshi worker smuggling syndicates

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are still investigating allegations that four large syndicates are smuggling illegal Bangladeshi workers into the country daily via Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said police were still investigating the syndicates said to be operating in Dhaka, Bangladesh and in Kuala Lumpur.
"Yes, police are still investigating," he said when contacted by Bernama here today.
A local newspaper reported the syndicates were said to be raking in RM5.2 million in profits annually by charging between RM15,000 and RM20,000 each including money to grease the authorities especially the Immigration as well as the Malaysian Embassy in Dhaka.

According to the report, there were at least 38 flights operating from Dhaka to KLIA daily. — Bernama
