KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today attended special 'hajat' prayers seeking protection for Palestine and the well-being of its people.
The prayers, led by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom, were held in the wake of the United States declaration of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
Thousands of Muslims, many of whom were delegates of the UMNO General Assembly 2017, attended the special prayers which were held at the Tun Razak Hall 2 of the Putra World Trade Centre here after the Friday prayers.
Jamil Khir was overcome by emotion when reciting the 'doa' (prayer) seeking the well-being of Palestinians.
Earlier, in his sermon, Jamil Khir said Muslims from around the world had been hurt by the US decision. He also said that Muslims in Palestine had been long suppressed by Israel which forced them to live in misery.
In PUTRAJAYA, the Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque organised special 'hajat' prayers seeking the retention of Jerusalem and Palestine as the property of Muslims.
The prayers were held after the Friday prayers and were led by the imam of the mosque, Hamdan Muhamad. — Bernama
