Senior cop, two women remanded to assist probe into graft case

IPOH: A senior police officer with the rank of ACP (Assistant Commissioner of Police) rank and two women were remanded today to help investigations into a corruption case.
The application for the remand of the officer, who is a former district police chief, and the two women was submitted by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) at the Ipoh Court Complex here.
Assistant Registrar Puteri Nordina Kamalaudin allowed the three individuals to be remanded for five days beginning today until Dec 12.
The former district police chief, handcuffed and wearing MACC lock-up clothes, was taken to the court complex at about 10.45 am by MACC officers.
On Aug 28, Perak Police Chief Datuk Hasnan Hassan said police had formed an investigation team to investigate the spread of social media messages related to corruption about the former district police chief and his wife. — Bernama
