Sobhi makes it into Asia's Got Talent finale (Video)

SYRIAN-born Sobhi Shaker has become the sole Malaysian representative to make it into the finals of Asia's Got Talent Season 2.
The result was announced tonight on AXN (Astro channel 721).
Sobhi, who specialises in card tricks, blew away judges David Foster, Anggun and Jay Park during early auditions and he performed during the third round of semi-finals, which aired on Nov 30. He managed to raise his game, and even added a message of peace into his performance.
Many viewers were captivated by his creative card tricks, as well as his backstory of being sent to Malaysia by his parents in 2015 when civil war broke out in Syria, and voted for him to enter the finals.
As to how he feels about representing his adopted country on AGT, Sobie said, "As a Syrian, I am so proud to represent Malaysia. This is something I can do for Malaysia for welcoming us Syrians with open arms. They helped us and accepted us without asking for anything, unlike others."
Two other Malaysians — magician Andrew Lee (who was in the first semi-finals) and singer Mafarika (the second semi-finals) sadly, did not make it through to the finals.
Hopefully when results are announced on the Dec 14 show, Sobhi will continue to do his family and adoptive country proud.
The Asia's Got Talent Season 2 finale will be aired on Dec 14 on AXN at 8.30pm.
