Strong earthquake strikes Caroline Islands in Micronesia

KUALA LUMPUR: A strong earthquake, measuring 6.4 on the Richter Scale, rocked the western Caroline Islands in Micronesia at 8.22am today, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department.
It said the epicentre of the quake was at a point 10 degrees North and 140.1 degrees East, some 1,275km northeast of Tagum in the Philippines and 2,455km northeast of Kinabatangan, Sabah.
The quake did not trigger any tsunami, it added. — Bernama
