KUALA LUMPUR: Wanita Umno vice-chief Datuk Azizah Mohd Dun is prepared to shoulder the responsibility if given the mandate to contest again in the 14th general election.
"If selected, alhamdulillah (Praise to Allah), but even if I'm not selected, I'll support whoever is the selected candidate.
"As the (incumbent) elected representative, I'll continue work as instructed by the party leadership and to serve the people," she said when met at the 2017 Umno General Assembly at the Putra World Trade Centre here today.
The Beaufort Member of Parliament said the selection of candidates for the election would be determined by the party president.
"Let the party leadership decides on the candidates. Whoever is selected, we will support," she said.
Azizah, who is Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister, said she was confident that the people would continue to give their support to the BN (Barisan Nasional) candidates to ensure continuous development in the state.
In the last general election, Azizah won the Beaufort parliamentary seat after defeating then Sabah Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) chairman Datuk Seri Lajim Ukinn with a majority of 673 votes. — Bernama
