KUALA LUMPUR: An Umno leader wants the authorities to investigate The Malaysian Insight (TMI) and where its funding came from, saying that no stone should be left unturned.
Tasek Gelugor Umno Youth chief Mohd Nashrol Hisham Abdullah said this was following the online news portal's recent attacks on Prime Minister and Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak.
He said he had done research on the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM), and found the portal was registered under the name of a woman.
It is however understood that the woman is related to Jahabar Sadiq, who runs TMI.
"If you look on the internet, a lot of brickbats are hurled at Najib. More recently, there is this news portal, The Malaysian Insight, who has been insulting him.
"The authorities must not let this happen. I did some research on SSM and found the Insight Media Sdn Bhd registered under this name.
"We want her, as well as where the TMI funding came from, to be investigated 'sampai ke lubang cacing' (leave no stone unturned)," he said when debating the motion on religion at the Umno general assembly, here, today.
Mohd Nashrol said investigating the news portal was vital as a lesson to others not to attack and insult the prime minister openly.
