Car hits marathon pacer, victim in serious condition

PETALING JAYA: A Klang City International Marathon 2017 pacer suffered serious injuries after she was hit by a car during the event.
Klang City International Marathon said in a Facebook posting that pacer Evelyn Ang was hit by a car from the back this morning.
The incident allegedly occurred at the 14km point and the case is currently under police investigation.
"Ang is bleeding in the brain with a skull fracture and will be transferred to the Sungai Buloh Hospital," read the statement.
"Together, let us pray for Evelyn Ang. Hope she will safely go through the critical moment and have a speedy recovery," it said.
North Klang OCPD ACP Mazelan Paijan who confirmed the incident, said it occurred about 4.30am along Jalan Kapar Batu 2.
"The car, was from Klang heading to Kapar and hit the runners from behind," he said, adding that three victims were injured.
The remaining two runners suffered injuries to their head and hands.
"The driver was not found to be drunk. His urine tested negative and a blood test will be conducted," Mazelan added.
