Police nab suspect linked to eight snatch thefts

KUALA TERENGGANU: The police have solved eight snatch theft cases with the arrest of a man dubbed 'Abang Sang' at Taman Permint Jaya, Chendering here, last Thursday.
On that day, the 24-year-old suspect had allegedly committed two snatch thefts in Jalan Pasir Panjang and Kuala Ibai between 2pm and 2.30pm.
Kuala Terengganu police chief, ACP Idris Abd Rafar said the victims in the two latest snatch thefts were females.
One was riding a motorcycle in Jalan Pasir Panjang when the suspect snatched her handbag that was placed in the machine's basket, while the other, aged 13, was a student in Kuala Ibai, whose bag was snatched in similar modus operandi.
"Following reports by the two victims, the police nabbed the suspect six hours later while he was riding a motorcycle with a teenager in Chendering," said Idris, adding the suspect was remanded until Dec 12. — Bernama
