Sports Toto celebrates Christmas with Orang Asli community in Pahang

PETALING JAYA: In this season of joy, Sports Toto Malaysia Sdn Bhd threw a Christmas carnival for the Christian Orang Asli community in Pahang on Dec 2.

Since 2013, Sports Toto has been supporting the initiatives of Strategic Education Methods & Ongoing Advancements Bhd (Semoa), a non-governmental organisation founded to help the indigenous group in the country, to celebrate Christmas.

As part of the company's corporate social responsibility programme, Helping Hands, Sports Toto contributed RM30,000 in cash and in kind to spread the spirit of sharing and joy to the Orang Asli in Pahang.

Sports Toto's communications manager Giam Say Khoon said the company holds on to the principle that everyone deserves to share the joy of festive seasons.

"We hope that through our gesture of gifting, we can spread this meaningful values of sharing, giving and caring, which is in line with our Helping Hands' tagline to everyone.

"We are so impressed with all the efforts put in by Semoa to help the Orang Asli community especially in providing the opportunities to the children here to receive education," said Giam.

A group of Sports Toto staffs from the Kuala Lumpur head office also brought Christmas presents for the children to jazz up the one-day carnival filled with food and game stalls run by the parents of the Orang Asli children who stay at the Semoa Orang Asli Education Centre located in Raub, Pahang.

Sports Toto carries out various festive CSR initiatives annually, which include the Chinese New Year Ang Pow Donation Campaign, Raya goodwill visits to government hospitals, Deepavali charity donation drive as well as the Harvest and Gawai cheers with the underprivileged in east Malaysia.
