Lorry driver, attendant involve in crash at Parit tested positive for drug

PARIT: The driver and attendant of the lorry involved in a road accident that killed three family members at Jalan Bota Kanan-Teluk Intan, near Kampung Teluk Memali, near here today tested positive for drug.
Perak Centre district police chief Supt Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said the suspects, aged 25 and 27, respectively, tested positive for methamphetamine.
They would be brought to the Magistrate's Court tomorrow for police to obtain an order to remand them, he said when contacted here.
The crash, which occurred about 6.30am, killed Ahmad Nor Al-Zaidin Ahmad Azzudin, 35 , a special officer to the Perak Public utilities, Infrastructure, Energy and Water Committee Chairman.
Also killed in the crash were Ahmad Nor Al-Zaidin's wife, Norhaslina Abdul Razak, 27, and his sister, Nor Azira, 24.
According to police, the accident occurred when the Proton Saga driven by Ahmad Nor Al-Zaidin collided with the lorry, resulting in both vehicles to plunge into a canal.
The family members were from Kampung Gajah and heading to Teluk Intan. — Bernama
