Motorcyclist killed in hit-and-run in Lahad Datu

LAHAD DATU: A man died after the motorcycle he was riding was involved in a hit-and-run accident at Km2, Jalan Lahad Datu-Sandakan yesterday.
Lahad Datu police chief ACP Hamzah Ahmad said in the incident at about 11.30pm, the victim, Lauritz Lyle Parinias, 26, was on his way from Sandakan to Lahad Datu.
"Initial investigations found the accident was believed to have taken place when the motorcyclist lost control of his vehicle and skidded and was ran over by another vehicle from behind.
"The victim who was seriously injured on the head died at the accident scene," he said in a statement here today.
He said the remains of the victim were sent to Lahad Datu Hospital and the case was investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — Bernama
