DAP's Teh to take latest setback in his stride

GEORGE TOWN: DAP's Tanjung Bungah assemblyman Teh Yee Cheu who was barred from distributing flood aid, said he will take the party's decision in his stride.
Commenting on Bukit Bendera MP Zairil Khir Johari's announcement that he was barred from distributing flood aid, Teh said he has no hard feelings towards Zairil or the party.
He said he would concentrate on serving his constituents under the party banner untill his term ends at the next general election.
The outspoken assemblyman said he is answerable to his constituents and will continue his role as an elected representative despite the odds faced by him.
"I forgive Zairil and DAP's ignorance," he told theSun.
In a press conference yesterday, Zairil said Teh was barred from handling the flood aid after he reportedly expressed an intention to leave the party once the Penang state legislative assembly is dissolved.
Zairil said taking this into consideration, he was assigned to handle the flood aid for Teh's constituency.
Teh is the second opposition assemblyman to be barred from distributing flood aid, earlier PKR's Kebun Bunga representative Cheah Kah Peng had also been sidelined due to an internal procedure change.
Teh has been at loggerheads with the state government over environmental issues in Penang, including the state's frequent flooding and the recent Tanjung Bungah landslide which claimed the lives of 11 construction workers.
