Teenager and two others remanded for murder probe

BUKIT MERTAJAM: Police have remanded a teenager and two men for five days in relation to the murder of a 41-year-old wiring man.
Wong Kok Aun died as a result of injuries sustained during a fracas outside a pub in Auto City, Juru on Sunday (Dec 10).
He passed away two days later at the Seberang Jaya Hospital due to head injuries.
Central Seberang Perai district police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said the police were granted a five-day remand order from the Bukit Mertajam Magistrate Court.
The remand order against the three suspects ends on Dec 19.
"The police have also changed their investigations from Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons to Section 302 for murder," he told reporters today.
On Wednesday, it was reported that the three suspects had assaulted Wong outside the pub.
The deceased along with another two friends went to another pub at 1.30am. Five minutes later, the three alleged suspects had attacked one of Wong's friends.
At this point, Wong and his friends tried to flee, but he fell down, and the suspects started to assault him until he became unconscious.
His friends managed to flee the scene.
Yesterday, the three suspects surrendered themselves at the police headquarters after learning that the police were looking for them.
