Fire leaves family of eight homeless

SARIKEI: Eight members of a family in Sare, 18km from here, were left homeless after fire razed their house at 10.38am today.
Sarikei Fire and Rescue Station chief Suna Kahar said the family consisted of a married couple aged 44 and 41, and their five children and daughter-in-law, aged between 7 and 22.
The occupants were not in the house when the incident happened.
Suna said nine firefighters from Sarikei Fire and Rescue Station in a fire truck and an emergency medical rescue services (EMRS) vehicle rushed to the scene following a distress call.
The cause of the fire and estimated losses were being investigated, he said. — Bernama
