Johor govt solving land ownership, affordable housing issues

JOHOR BARU: The Johor government is committed to addressing the issues of change in land ownership and affordable housing with the solving of a number of cases in the state, says Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin (pix).
"For instance, in Kampung Melayu Pandan, Kempas and in some other areas here, we have assisted in changing the land ownership by acquiring the land from the private sector.
"In the Desa Perwira area, the state government has acquired land which will enable 100 residents to receive land titles, while 1,000 units of affordable houses will be offered to squatters."
Mohamed Khalid said this to reporters after opening the Community Service and Training Programme at Surau Al-Falah, Desa Perwira, here, today.
Also present was Works Ministry's Contractor and Entrepreneur Development Division (BPKU) secretary, Zuree Zubir.
Mohamed Khaled said the piece of land was acquired through Johor Corporation (J-Corp) at RM320 million.
"We will continue with the effort in other areas for the well-being of the people, whereby in developing Johor, each of its people should have a house or plot of land," he added.
He also expressed appreciation for the Johor BPKU for carrying out a social responsibility programme by resurfacing Dataran Kejat, the public square at Desa Perwira, and for the repair works done at the surau.
The 40 participants of the Community Service and Training Programme at Surau Al-Falah comprised Johor Bumiputera contractors and the community service activity is an annual affair organised by BPKU.
