Gamuda's shares up on higher first quarter earnings

    PETALING JAYA: Gamuda Bhd, whose net profit rose 25% in the first quarter ended Oct 31, 2017, saw its share price rise 2.1% this morning.
    At 11.09am, its share price was 2.1% or 10 sen higher at RM4.85 with 789,200 shares changing hands. The stock was flat at RM4.75 last Friday with 4.4 million shares traded.
    Gamuda's market capitalisation stood at RM11.9 billion.
    During the quarter, its net profit rose 25% to RM203 million against RM162 million in the previous corresponding period, due to higher work progress from various construction projects coupled with stronger overseas property sales and several new property projects in Malaysia.
    Revenue for quarter under review jumped 53% from RM504.9 million to RM771.8 million.
