PETALING JAYA: About 25,000 participants from around the world are expected to attend the 9th World Urban Forum (WUF9) to be hosted by Malaysia from Feb 7-13, 2018.
Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Tan Sri Noh Omar said the upcoming event at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) was expected to be one of the largest events to be held in the country next year.
"With WUF9, more integrated urban planning and development, as well as building a network of partners will also be emphasised to ensure better urban management in future," he said.
Noh told this to reporters after launching the WUF9 Train at the Putra Heights LRT Station here today. It is part of the promotional activities for WUF9 conference themed "Cities 2030, Cities for All: Implementing the New Urban Agenda".
He said the organisation of WUF9 should also be used as a way to boost the use of public transport in the country.
This would be in line with WUF9's theme on a sustainable urban development with a holistic, integrated and less emissive transportation system as one of its key elements, he said. — Bernama
