MACC records statement from Selangor state exco, 14 others on Kg Sg Yu land scandal

PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has recorded statements from 15 people including a Selangor state exco member over an investigation on the Kampung Sungai Yu 14.4ha land scandal in Kuala Selangor.
It is learnt that among the other witnesses who were summoned for their statements were those from the district land office, the Selangor state government's Select Committee on Competency, Accountability and Transparency (Selcat), representatives of residents and a temple.
MACC director of investigations Datuk Simi Abd Ghani when contacted today said investigators are in the midst of scrutinizing documents relevant to the case that were seized from the Kuala Selangor land office and several state exco members last week.
He said more witnesses will be called in to be quizzed to gather evidence before concluding the probe.
The MACC re-opened the investigations on the case after Selcat chairman Hannah Yeoh had admitted that the process of granting ownership of the village land to 175 applicants was not in compliance with the requirements of the committee.
Last week on Friday, the MACC raided the Selangor state secretariat building and seized documents related to the case.
On a separate and unrelated investigations on a case of illegal sand and rock mining activities valued at about RM1.2 million in Kajang, sources said the MACC is looking for six individuals who are said to be prime witnesses to assist in the case.
On Nov 29, four people were nabbed for giving bribes to officers of a local council to keep the illegal mining activities undisrupted by enforcement.
Investigators also froze RM4 million found in several bank accounts of those held.
