Felda wants land worth RM270m back from KLVC (Updated)

KUALA LUMPUR: The Felda board of directors is not interested in continuing the Kuala Lumpur Vertical City project (KLVC) and has made a police report against the local developer of the project who is building it on Felda's land in Jalan Semarak here.
The developer has full power of attorney on the four lots of land said to be worth RM270 million.
The police report is just one of the options Felda is pursuing in reclaiming their plots of land from the developer.
"We don't want the money for the land, we just want the land," said Felda chairman Tan Sri Shahrir Samad at a press conference at Felda headquarters here yesterday.
"We had, on Dec 12 raised this matter to the Prime Minister's department and the Attorney-Generals chambers apart from making the police report," he said.
Shahrir informed that a decision was also made by the board of directors in June this year to take legal action against the developer to get the land back from them.
Shahrir said that the police report was lodged because there were some dubious elements in the transfer of land ownership which is located in Jalan Semarak here.
"We had given the developer full power of attorney on the land, but they had quietly changed the ownership of the land to their company and we did not receive a single cent in the deal," he said.
Shahrir said he was aware of the deal when he took office in January.
Felda was also looking at revoking the Power of Attorney (PA) given to the company concerned and registering a caveat on the land.
An investigative report by a Malay daily today stated that Felda was in danger of losing the land, which has since been earmarked for the Kuala Lumpur Vertical City (KLVC) development project.
Shahrir said that the land office had initially rejected Felda's application a for caveat to be put on the lands.
Felda was finally allowed to place its private caveat on the lands.
Shahrir said that as of now, the land parcels are protected.
