Teen with methamphetamine strapped to legs arrested at KLIA

SHAH ALAM: Police detained a 16-year-old at the KL International Airport (KLIA) after methamphetamine was found strapped to his legs.
Selangor deputy police chief DCP Datuk Ab Rashid Ab Wahab said policemen at the departure hall noticed something wasn't quite right when the teenager arrived with a 39-year-old man on Dec 12. The man was also arrested as methamphetamine was found on him.
"Policemen noticed the duo, who are locals, walking in an awkward manner and the teenager was exhibiting signs of nervousness.
"They were detained immediately and police recovered 4,176.4g of methamphetamine. The drugs have an estimated street value of more than RM292,348," he told reporters at the Selangor police headquarters here today.
Following the arrest, police detained 17 drug mules, including a 14-year-old girl, from the same syndicate.
"These people were detained at various locations in Petaling Jaya, Selangor and Cheras, Kuala Lumpur. We are still establishing the modus operandi of the syndicate targeting teenagers as drug mules," he added.
Ab Rashid added that police seized a total of 3,780g of methamphetamine and 156g of ketamine both worth RM273,660 from the 17 suspects.
The syndicate have been active for two months.
The suspects are being remanded and the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
