KUALA LUMPUR: Tropical storm Kai-Tak has started to weaken and is no longer a threat to Malaysia, says Meteorological Department (METMalaysia) director-general Alui Bahari.

Through close monitoring by the department, he said the tropical storm which was expected to land in the country starting today maybe not take place.

"So far, it can be said the storm is no longer a threat to Malaysia as it has almost died down," he said when contacted by Bernama today.

Alui said the situation was due to changing intensity and movement of Kai-Tak based on the uncertain atmospheric condition from time to time.

However rain is expected to continue in several states but it would not be heavy, he said.

In this regard, he advised the people to download the myCuaca application to obtain the latest weather information which will be updated every three hours.

Apart from METMalaysia website, myCuaca application also facilitates users to access information faster. — Bernama
