KUALA LUMPUR: Marathon pacer Evelyn Ang's (pix) condition has not improved and she remains unconscious in Sungai Buloh Hospital, says a source familiar with the case.
After going for a high risk surgery last Monday, there has been no further improvement to her condition, the person told theSun.
"She's now going for a CT scan and will most likely be sent back into induced rest again. She still have fever and it has worsened. The swelling on the brain has not healed and seems to have worsened a bit. The doctor has to also do a tracheostomy (operate to open an airway on the throat/windpipe) to help her breathe better. Her intracranial pressure is up (brain fluid) and her pupils are dilated," the person said.
An External Ventricular Drain (EVD) will also be inserted as the fluid passageway on her brain could be blocked, the person said further.
Ang, 44, was among three people hit by a car around 4.30am on Sunday along Jalan Kapar Batu 2 during a pace routine.
She suffered serious head injuries, including a skull fracture.
The other two victims – Amiruddin Hamid, 37, and Ahmad Hadafi Jus, 42, – sustained light injuries.
The 27-year-old car driver allegedly lost control of his vehicle and rammed into the runners from behind.
The police had confirmed that he was not driving while intoxicated as he tested negative in a urine test.
