RM2.4 million drug bust

KLANG: Police have nabbed two "Gang 24" methamphetamine processing syndicate members on Tuesday.
Selangor deputy police chief DCP Datuk Ab Rashid Ab Wahab said in the 4pm operation, a team from the South Klang district police headquarters raided and caught two men inside a house in Bandar Putri around 4pm.
"Police seized RM2.4 million worth of drugs and drug processing apparatus in the drug bust.
"The duo, aged 37 and 40, are involved with the underworld 'Gang 24' and were using the house to process syabu for local distribution," he told reporters at the Selangor police headquarters today.
Ab Rashid added the unemployed men also had records for past drug offences, for which they had been convicted.
Police recovered a vehicle worth RM80,000, RM9,500 cash and two gold chains.
Among the drugs seized during the operation were 54,382ml of methamphetamine oil, 1,051g of methamphetamine and chemical substances.
The arrested duo also led police to another house in Kampung Jawa, which they were using as a drug processing plant and storehouse.
The suspects have been remanded until Dec 27 and the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
Meanwhile, South Klang district police chief ACP Shamsul Amar Ramli who was also at the media conference said this is the largest drug bust in the district.
Selangor police have seized 556kg of ganja, 326kg of ketamine, 2.5 million erimin 5 pills, 172kg of syabu, 95kg of ecstasy, 66kg of heroin, 61 ganja plants, and 825g of yaba pills so far this year.
A total 17,489 people were nabbed for drug related offences with 815 suspects being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
