KUCHING: Since Tuesday, the area around the Kuching Waterfront has been livened up with Christmas carolling involving various groups in conjunction with the festive season.
A Kuching Waterfront management spokesman said this activity had been held since 2015 to give domestic visitors and foreign tourists a meaningful experience in celebrating Christmas in Kuching city.
"The Christmas carolling takes place from 8pm to 9.30pm at several locations including the Hornbill Fountain, Rotunda, Godown Amphitheatre and Waterfront Square," said the spokesman.
Among the groups involved in singing the Christmas carols are Bethany XLN Youth, Yadah Music Centre & Praise Valley, Simple Rhythm Band and Love One Group.
The songs rendered are not limited to the popular ones like Feliz Navidad, Jingle Bells, O Holy Night, White Christmas and Joy to the World, but also include religious songs in the local ethnic languages like Iban and Bidayuh.
The spokesman said public response to the Christmas carolling had been good despite the current uncertain weather conditions. — Bernama
