KUALA LUMPUR: The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has issued 70 compounds worth RM5 million for various offences related to construction sites around the city since January this year.
DBKL Enforcement Division senior deputy director Osman Ismail said among the offences compounded under Section 70 of the Street, Drainage and Building Act 1974 were erecting a structure without permission and having unsatisfactory level of cleanliness and safety.
"All aspects at the construction sites must be given due attention, including safety and workers' quarters. Contractors who fail to meet these requirements will face action," he told a press conference after the Integrated Operation at Construction Sites here today.
The 10th series of the integrated operation involved 138 enforcement personnel from DBKL, Department of Occupational Safety and Health, Department of Fire and Rescue, Malaysian Civil Defence Force and the Department of Health.
Osman said there were 300 large-scale projects implemented in the city this year and that the DBKL had deployed its enforcement personnel to carry out monitoring activities to ensure that the implementation of the projects did not violate any stipulated rules and regulations. — Bernama
