Three injured as ambulance skids, crashes into ditch in Tawau
TAWAU: Three Semporna Hospital staff were injured when an ambulance they were travelling in together with a doctor skidded and crashed at Km 57 Jalan Tawau-Semporna, near here last night.
In the 12.30am incident, the 35-year-old ambulance driver lost control of the vehicle while returning to Semporna Hospital from Tawau Hospital.
Tawau District Police chief, ACP Fadil Marsus said the driver suffered a fractured hip and left shoulder, while a 27-year-old female nurse injured her backbone and sustained a head injury.
"A 25-year-old male medical assistant was injured on the forehead. However, a male doctor escaped uninjured. The accident is believed to have occurred after the ambulance driver lost control of the vehicle causing it to skid and crash into a ditch," he said in a statement here, today.
All the injured were rushed to Tawau Hospital. — Bernama
