Two teens to be charged over teen girl's murder

KUANTAN: Two teenagers will be charged tomorrow for the brutal murder of a 14-year-old girl who was found with 45 stab wounds in Sungai Triang, Bera in late October.
Pahang Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief SAC Othman Nayan said police detained nine suspects including two women over the course of a 62 day investigation.
"We initiated the investigation following the brutal murder of the girl. The suspects were all locals, comprising two women and seven male suspects.
"From the series of arrests, we found that two teenagers, aged 15 and 18 were directly involved with the murder," he said in a statement today.
Police also seized a handphone, belonging to the victim. The victim was a school dropout.
Othman said investigation papers on the case have been handed over to the state DPP for further action.
"The DPP ordered the teenagers to be charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, read together with Section 34 of the same Act," he added.
Othman revealed that the 15 year old suspect is still schooling while the other suspect is a college student.
The duo will be charged at the Temerloh court tomorrow.
In the Oct 26 incident, members of the public who were using a bridge, were shocked to find the body of a girl floating in Sungai Triang.
In the 3.30pm discovery, the deceased identified as Nur Amira Abdullah from Felda Bukit Puchong, was found with 45 stab wounds to the chest, abdomen, back of the body, both arms, and the left leg.
A post-mortem showed that multiple stab wounds to the torso was the reason for her death. She was stabbed with a sharp weapon, believed to be a knife.
It was reported that the Fire and Rescue Department operations personnel received a distress call that the body of a woman was found floating in the river near Jambatan Triang.
Initially rescuers failed to find the body but managed to retrieve it later.
No documents were found on the victim. The body was sent to Hospital Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah for a post-mortem.
The deceased was later identified by her family members.
